Our pre-school/pre-kindergarten classroom is where we play with a purpose1 This classroom is designed with ten interest areas that are aligned with Creative Curriculum. Morning meeting includes sight words and lots of alliteration. Children learn about punctuation and learn through studies that are developmentally appropriate for their age. They learn to write and engage in activities that support their gross motor, physical, social-emotional and cognitive abilities. The environment is designed so each child feels successful as they learn these skills. In addition to Creative CUrriculum we implement Children’s Literacy Initiative (CLI) to enhance early literacy and reading skills. Children participate in Author Studies where they learn about print recognition, rhyming and about specific authors. The children leave us well prepared for kindergarten and beyond as we ensure that all of our children receive a Smart Start!
